Hi folks I've just been on the phone to LANDesk, well a reseller about implementing it into our network. They're going to phone me later today, I was wondering what your experiences are like with the software? is it worth getting, we're mainly interested in it for it's auditing tools.

But every aspect of it appeals to us, what are the prices like? is there much room for negotiation? we have around 9 servers and 150 desktops.

cheers :)

Auditing, asset management, reporting. We have spiceworks at the moment but it's not good enough, even though it is free..

We use Landesk in work for remote mangement, invetory, deploying patches etc.

Not really had a problem with it to be honest.

You ought to also try the Altiris CMS http://www.codework.com/cmanage/product.html
and conpare this to LANDesk for cost and functionality. Think they are similar in pricing i.e. around 6.5K-ish for 150 PCs.

From what I heard from where I worked before, LANDesk is ok when it works!

There was another one I tested, name began with A..... hm...

It did Audits, reports and patching. Even did imaging!

Spot on really. I'm using the entire suite basically, bar the management gateway appliance and once you get things set up it works really well.

Which reseller are you speaking to?

I have a brief discussion with Avocent, who basically said it would be around £80 per node.

Although I didn't deal with the price negotiations (I'm just a techie), I have a feeling we paid a little less than that. We are managing 65 servers and 600 workstations though, so that may have something to do with it.
