We have a small landing which has a hue bulb and a plug in auraglow light with built in sensor so in the night it provides low soft lighting at plug level. I think it's on its way out - is there a smart equivalent out there? I'm having trouble finding one

I just use a Tuya/Smart Life compatible B22 bulb in a normal light fitting.

I have an Alexa routine to set it to 1% at 10pm.

Check my WC thread. I use a Philips circle light thing and a Hue motion sensor. It has infinite features w.r.t colour temps at different times, following sunset sunrise etc.

Had forgotten about the IKEA tradfri PIR, better value,
may need to get an ikea dirigera hub too, but you will need a hub for setting up a procedure where light is dimmer at night time, anyway

We have a number of Anker eufy Lumi night lights (PIR sensor) dotted around the hall and stairs. The batteries (3 x aaa) tend to last 4+ months per charge, depending on usage of course.
Good bit of kit, had them for several years.

For those of you using PIR sensors in stairways do you have one at the top and bottom? Shame there’s nothing that fits snugly into the skirting for example. Or a smart bulb with a PIR sensor included?

The Hue ones come on a mount that is pretty distinct and be turned to face at different angles. It's also magnetic. Not sure that answers your Q but it's a bit more universal than I had expected.

Thanks. Currently using a few Xiaomi smart bulbs which work perfectly well, but no hub. What with all my house renovations I’m thinking of upgrading. Not sure if that would be Hue or what. But it’s be nice to do as someone suggested in here for bathroom nightlights for example (replace one spot with a Hue, get a sensor for it at night so after say 10pm it comes on at 10% etc)

Ah man you have to go full nerd and grab a Hue hub to keep the other half happy, but then fit a raspberry pi with HomeAssistant installed. They work together perfectly.

Well thats a rabbit hole I didn't need whilst on my 7.30pm conference call :o It does look to support Xiaomi bulbs, but what does it actually mean and what would I use it for? I had a very old RPi years and years ago, playing around with a new one sounds fun... but perhaps not whilst we have no kitchen and the back of the house is a bare building site :p

was going to say get a used smarthings hub ... however doesn't look like these go for much less that £50 now, the truth about Hues hub,
my understanding is that with a decent hub you can store multiple complex automation algorithms, and interact via your phone, to also show charts/dashboards like raspi &HA

Do you have a ring doorbell? If so, you could put a Chime Pro there which has a small nightlight. Plus you'll benefit from an extra ringer on your doorbell.

Otherwise, surely just any cheap night light with a sensor. It doesn't need to be smart, one that just comes on when it gets dark.

new smarthings hub ~£60 looks like it will be the goto

no release date for uk yet
and doesn't seem to be available in europe either

Of course a standard thing would do...but that'd be too easy :p
