To give you a little background on this, my landlord is not the nicest of folk. His attitude is basically "my way or the highway", and I have been locked out before. So I guess I shouldn't be suprised that he is blackmailing me again.

But this is different from the other occasions: apparently I'm now not allowed to hold any beliefs (religious or otherwise) other than what the landlord says I can believe or practise. He's issued an eviction threat, and the threat of being physically confronted by him and his bully friends. What do I do? He's given me a deadline of Saturday to comply with his orders or I get one of the two outcomes mentioned above.

That makes no sense without any more contextual information.

If you are afraid of violence, talk to the police?

Well I'm sure his actions can't be legal but the question is, who is going to care? There must be some organisation you can get in contact with because this is clearly unfair.

Also bring out the original contract and mention it says nothing like what he is demanding and he needs to give x weeks notice etc. Also threaten to report him to the police for blackmail (just threaten unless he acvtually does something).

sounds like a matter for the police I think.

Thats intimidation no matter which way you look at it for grounds which are pathetic in my honest opinion. :o

My thoughts exactly.

Sorry about the vague OP (typed in a hurry), check the second post I made for clarification.

Police for harassment, and possibly the council. Don't all landlords need to be registered now?

Absolutely. Tell the council there have been intimidation incidents before, that you have been locked out before etc., and that you require their help in finding new accomodation ASAP. Stress his previous track record.

Hes at work now but he'll be back before I'm awake tomorrow...

Put the key in the door so he can't get into your place! He has no legal right to enter the rented premises with less than 24hr written notice.

Indeed, you have plenty of rights in this matter, don't let him break the law.
