Landscape shooting

Im wanting to know what the best settings are for shooting landscape.

So far ive been using F3.2 and then auto shutter speed, but will using F8 make my photo's any sharper?

Would anyone mind explaining to me what effect the F number has on a photo at long distance?

So the higher F Number the better, not suprising my photo came out wrong then, lol, i was using one of the lowest ones.

Camera is a kodak p880, and it does have the infinity focus on it, but again, I was using f3.2, so probably didn't help an awful lot
