lapped cpu

I've just lapped my e6600 @3.2 cpu and frezer7 pro cooler. I'm getting about 3/4 deg lower temps at load. Does this sound about right ????

What are the temps and what thermal compound are you using ?

That sounds pretty good, any decrease in temps is always nice. As some people have lapped cpu/cooler and seen no difference.

load was 62 in orthos now 58 and i'm using as5 ...

I only had 1-2 degree drop. I saw it more as a fun thing to try seeing as my chip was second hand anyway.

I had a 10'c drop with my e6600 while also moving it from a full pc to a shuttle

The tempd ecrease depends on how uneven the cpu surface was to begin with, my E6300 was pretty bad and got a 6c drop after lapping.

also depends how well the cpu and heatsink are lapped and the thermal compound used.

And on how hot its running anyway. 2 degrees off at 80 isn't much, its a lot more at 20.

With the q6600 i was running prior to my current cpu, temps before lapping were 81-81-72-72 at 3.8ghz, lapped both my TRUE and cpu and dropped them to 68-68-62-62.
