Just been trawling the corasir forum and found a rather interetsing post where someones asking if lapping a h50 is possible/ and would ti void the warranty

According to "RamGuy" a corsair rep

Lapping the H50 should be no problem and you will not void the warranty. We have not tested lapped vs unlapped so I would not know if the difference would be significant.

Anyone tried this or considered trying this?

If you have pics and performance?

Good for Corsair.

I can't remember what ek's stance was on this, might dig it out of my inbox to check

As we cant be responsible for any custom designs made by our users I cant
give you any suggestions or hints.
Existing blocks have been tested and we guarantee performance for them. For
any other designs we cant be held responsible.

Still don't know whether this means they'd honour a warranty on a lapped block, but then I can't think of any reasons for a block to fail unless it was the fault of the user anyway. Not really comparable to the all-in-one unit.

From the review at Frosty Tech, the base is as flat as it needs to be. Have you checked the cpu and seen if that is flat?
If its not, then what would you gain by lapping the heatsink?
Consider lapping (and voiding the warrenty) on the cpu!
