Hello all. I think there is something wrong with my cpu.

In my old asrock motherboard (worst piece of **** ever) I overclocked my cpu. It would give me a score of 1900 in 3DMark06.

I have my new eVGA 680i motherboard. When overclocked to the same clocking it is giving me a score of.............1200. I am now using a Zalman 9700 Aero.

I have switched back to the old cooler one and got the same stuff.

When I take the CPU cooler of, there is what I can only describe as a burn mark outlining the Cpu shape.

Therefore I have decided to lap both the Zalmand and the CPU.

What grade paper do you recommend to use and do you know any good sites to get stuff of. I will probably need some AS5 as I dont trust this Zalman grease.

Cheers

The Thermal Paste used rucks up slightly in a square shape. You know. More at the edges.

It is really really annoying me.

Due to some problems with ebay, my account has been suspended, so I cant buy anything.

Do you know anywhere that accepts paypal and sells lapping kits. (need delivery to ireland.)

cheers

What sort of temperatures are you seeing before and after overclocking at idle and load? I think that lapping at this point might be a bit extreme.

I dont know lol.

Every program is giving me different temperatures.

The only reason I am worried is that I have a 8800gtx and I feel with CPU scores like that it will be holding my GTX back.

I will be upgrading to C2D soon. Well when their price cuts come

im sorry.

Its just that I am in a library which has the most obnoxious women ever in it. She keeps asking me these queer questions.

Add to the fact it will be closing very shortly, and that it will be my last chance on the net til tuesday and you will understand.

I apologise but it is a necessary evil :)

Nobody's going to be able to tell you who sells such a kit because it would be classified as an OcUK competitor.

Is it an ocuk competitor. They dont sell lapping kits do they??

:o
