Lapping Kit

I'm considering lapping my E2160 as it's quite concave, is there a lapping kit I can buy with glass?

I believe most people just buy a sand/glass paper kit from hardware stores. coarse - fine pieces, then just grab some glass from anywhere.

wet and dry sand paper from an car "auto" shop

800grit upwards

i dont know if halfords is a competitor if it is please delete, but thats where u can get wet and dry paper from, i use dmy glass table but any glazer has a spare sheet for 2-3 quid

a good table will be fine tho wood or glass

Thanks guys, I'll head out at the weekend and get some. One question though, in this picture he's applying pressure to the bottom of the CPU on the pins.

I thought you weren't supposed to touch the bottom of the CPU?

That's fine but ideally you should put the black pins cover (one that comes with a retail box cpu) to eliminate all possibilities of static shock.

yeah and intels don't exactly have pins on the lga775 which i imagen is very handy for lapping

they must save a fortune on gold tbh.

Fill the small Gap with Bluetac or such to stop dust getting inside IHS.
