Lapping my Tuniq 120

Hi,

I got the paper from halfords.

I'm lapping now. started of using 240 and now on 400. i've noticed, i've rounded the corners off. shall i carry on using 400 until i get get it flat as possile or move up a grade?

Your supposed to keep lapping on the more corse grade until its totally flat all over so no light can pass through when you have something level like a metal ruler next to it. Then once its flat you move to the finer grades.. If you move to the finer grades before its totally flat, the lap will be pointless..

not gone anywhere yet. i'm useless at diy :-(

i started of by applying some pressure and rounded the egdes a little using 240 and then went to 400 and 600.

It did look flat but then i read the above thread where no light must pass through. On mine it did so i've gone back to 400 and started again. i don't have a steel ruler or find any stanley knife blades. i found a hacksaw blade but it still shows alittle light through. I've stopped now and will get a steel ruler or blades tomorrow and start again.

I manged to get a decent steel ruler and started again at 400. I carried on at 400 untill i could see no light coming through and then moved up the grades. I stopped at 1500 as i could not be bothered anymore with the mirror finish even though i was nearly there.

I did'nt do the processor as i need the warranty for now just in case. I assembled everything and used mx-2.

My temps have dropped to around 59-60 prime @ full load from 67 which is nice :-)

Using core temp, all my core temps are nearly the same so i don't think my cpu needs lapping. the core temps are only out by around one or two degree's.

I may in the future once i know my system is 100% perfect think about lapping my cpu and getting the mirror finish on both the Tuinq and Cpu.
