Hi All

Looking a basic laptop for home use, documents and web browsing. Just not sure what ones best or what brand.

I've always been a fan of Asus as a brand , majority of my PC is asus.

Give me recommendations please.

just bought lenovo x230 myself with i7 3520m. £200, put 500GB sammy Evo and 16GB ram cheap, the whole thing ended up being just over £300 and it flies. Not the prettiest or slimmest but still only 1.5kg weight and will outperform most laptops under £600-700.

Keyboard is also great and feels like a normal keyboard so you can actually do work on it. Definitely recommend. My mum has x220 as well which is previous gen model and can't fault it either. Built to last and great performance.

I wouldn't buy new for £400 unless it's older heavily discounted model tbh.
If you really want a new one, I'd check PCS, they seem to have a decent selection, some very cheap and you can customise them to your needs.

picked myself up a current asus model was bit over £300 pretty happy with it. might pull a 500GB evo 840 from the main desktop and then pay £35 for 8gb of memory.
