I made a thread in the general forum but didn't notice there was a laptop forum.

Anyway, I've been doing some looking about for a laptop but alittle unsure what to get as I've never bought a laptop.

What I am looking for.

£400-500
general pc use
not for gaming (have main rig for that)
good battery life
good touch pad and keyboard
15"-17" screen

I kinda like the Toshiba L650D-123 Laptop at £492.

AMD Phenom II Triple Core P820 Processor, 4GB RAM, 500GB Hard Drive, 15.6" TruBrite Display, Windows 7 Home Premium

Also, don't want to buy online. I need to test out the touch pad and keyboard before buying. Will be buying in store.

You WILL pay a premium for this of about £100-150.
You also have more rights of return buying online, should the unit turn up and you decide you are not happy, you can return for a full refund under the 'distance selling regulations' - buying from a store does not (always) have this return policy.
Better to do as Neoboy has said, find something you like - then buy the exact same model on-line - you can even buy from the same store on-line and then usually get a discount, plus the added return policy.

Buying on-line is just a win/win situation.

Good ideas. What if I reserve online and pick up in store? Still same thing?

Will go to a few computer shops tomorrow, make my mind up then buy online.

Any recommendations on models/brands? What things should I be looking for a in a laptop?
