Hey

A friend at work needs a laptop for around £400 to run solidworks 3D CAD. I did recommend the vostro to her with an upgraded 8400M GS graphics card, but have jsut seen the thread on all these possibly being faulty.

I can't rememebr is Solidworks will need the best cpu or best gfx card, but 2gb ram is obviously a minimum. Any other choices as I would normally say toshiba?

cheers

Cheers boys, I knew it would be hard to find a good one for the sum of £400-450.

One purple coloured clothing store has an acer with a 2ghz, ore 2Duo T5750, 3 gig of ram, and x1300 gfx. But the gfx is appauling and looking at a simple review it says that hl2 800x600 ran at 18fps, which is frankly laughable.

Found a sony one her parents can get for around £450 (SONY VGN-NR38S/S.CEK) which has the same cpu as the acer one listed above, 2gig ram, 250gig HDD, but an 8400 128mb card. That seems to be the best spec to be had for this price range.

Also looked at the VOSTRO, and a configured one can be had for under 400 which would be my choice over the sony and would have the same spec.

So the Vostro or sony ? :D
