Yoyoyo.

I have a UHD Samsung TV and I'm also in the market for a new gaming laptop.

I mainly play BF4 and Eve Online at the moment.

I appreciate a 4k laptop screen is more or less pointless, but can I get a non-4k screen laptop and still output to 4k on UHD TV?

If so, given a budget of 1-2k, can anyone recommend a laptop?

Hey Alz0r,

Take a look at the AORUS X3 Plus v5. It might match exactly what you're looking for.

While it doesn't have a 4k display. It is highly mobile with its size and weight, has the gaming laptop specs you're looking for, and also comes with HDMI 2.0 included in the I/O for your TV. HDMI 2.0 supports up to 18 Gbps transfer, and 4K resolution, 12-bit color at 60Hz.

Let us know if we can answer any other questions!

Thanks!

Hi Alzor,

As well as the AORUS unit mentioned by Ryu_86, we are delighted to let yoou know that all the new generation GIGABYTE P34, P35 & P37 (so thats 14", 15.6" and 17.3" in thin profile, "Ultraforce" chassis) and also the new P55 models have the ability to output in glorious 4K to your TV,,, ALL the modles on the link below this image will satisfy your requirement, as they have the new HDMI 2.0 connection on boaard, just depends on your preference for screen size and spec, chassis profile, and the rest of the hardware, But plenty of options all within budget:-)

If you want to play at 4K the first and most important spec you need to look for is a GTX 980M because no other mobile GPU will perform well at 4K (discounting SLi) and even then it won't be enough for max settings.

To game at 4K with high settings you are looking at 980M SLi and even that may not be enough for all titles.

4K gaming is extremely demanding and quite limited to desktop hardware at the moment imo.

cheer guys i have just ordered the GIGABYTE P37X V5-CF2 17.3" :D

Excellent - you maanaged to catch it with the £100 discount! Good work :-)

Let us know your feedback when you receive,
