Maybe a silly question as im more a cat5/6E person than wireless, so forgive me for asking.

Is it possable if i have a laptop to increase the range of the laptops wireless signal. As in, i can not move the wireless hub, its not mine, but i have just about got conection if i sit on the floor next to the door of the room. What id like is to be able to move the laptop 10ft back, on the bed and use it there?

would ariels do this for me? or can i increase the power out put some how?

Try going into device manager and clicking on the proerties of the wireless nic. There should be something relating to power. It might be on low, which conserves battery battery power but means a weaker signal. Try adjusting that and see what happens.

somebody told me a wireless access point extends the range of a network, but there is a cost associated with buying it, and if you move might be of no use to you at the next place

a recommendation on here was to give the router different firmware but as its not yours

hmmm dont know if that helped or not lol
