Laptop and net problem

I think this should be here if not feel free to move it.

A friend is bringing her laptop round tonight to see if I can fix it. The problem is that sometimes after she has used it on the school network (she's a teacher) she can't access some secure sites when she gets home, like Gmail, hotmail, messenger among others. She has an ntl phone line at home so at least we have the same net providers but I'm racking my brains and can't think why this is happening. Any ideas?

I think, with my mum taking her laptop to school and using the Internet there...

Your friend needs to change the appropriate settings in Internet Options.

At my mums school, I think she goes through a proxy in here Internet Options, but at home, we have to uncheck this to make the Internet work.

Best thing to do, is for your friend to re scan for her network at home (if shes using wireless) if shes using wired, you will have to put in the appropriate settings
