So i've just aquired a laptop from a mate of mine, its a few yrs old and im planning to stick in some more memory (it will take up to 1Gb) and use it for uni. SPEC;
(Fujitsu Siemens Amilo EL6800, 15.4", 2Ghz Celeron, 256Mb RAM, 20Gb HD, DVD-ROM/CD-RW, bunch of USBs etc)
As you would expect the battery is pretty much gubbed but i've been talking to some mates who (usually) know a bit about PC's and they reckon DELL and some other companies have a utility/application which when downloaded can help with battery performance? I'm not talking some kind of power saving, more like something that would condition the battery and improve its longivity. I'm a bit sceptical but willing to try it if such a thing exists, does anyone know of any similar software, perhaps universal that could be used?
On a side note whats the strike rate for batteries bought of an auction site? best to steer clear?
cheers
Dons, If i've somehow missed a laptop specific forum then please move as per.
