Hi Guys

I have a Dell Latitude 5490. The battery which is internal had stopped lasting more than 20 mins so I decided to change it.
I installed the new bettery very carfully and the laptop booted up no problem with about 35% life in it. When I plug it in though it just wont charge, it is also flashing amber which is usually white in the little light at the front of the laptop.

Any one got any ideas as too what the issue could be. Its not a genuine Dell battery but is the exact spec from a repitable place. Would it need a bios update or anything?

Cheers
Gwyn

It might be because the battery driver installed is for your original battery and it's not happy/recognising the replacement.

Uninstall it from dev mgr and restart, let windows reinstall it, and see if that works.

Another thing to try is the following

1) Power off your laptop.

2) Unplug the AC adapter and the battery from your laptop.

3) Press and hold the power button on your laptop for 20 seconds to release the residual power in you laptop.

4) Re-connect the battery and the AC adapter to your laptop.

5) Power on your laptop and check to see if the battery can be charged.
