Laptop Battery Replacement Help

Hi again guys n girls,

About 18 to 24months ago I bought my Mrs a brand new Asus Intel Laptop to use just for general use, its always been set on the "balanced power option and shut down when off (not sleep)" and she only really uses it maybe 3 hours per day at most but not every day and that's just to check emails, facebook etc, very seldom anything else.

So just recently I have noticed that's shes needing to put it on charge a lot more often than it used to be and I also notice that it can be on charge for maybe an hour and it just wont reach full charge (the led doesn't change colour to say its charged and when you start it up you can see on the display that the battery Icon is nearly full but a tiny little bit not).

Then it will drain quite quick as compared to what like it used to be I suppose.

So my instant thoughts on that with rechargeable batteries is that its not taking and holding a charge, same as an old garbage car battery etc, same thing really.

So question is now that I have explained all that :>>>>> is this normal behaviour for a battery with usage and time period like this first of all ?

Next, I have looked for a replacement "Genuine" replacement but I simply cant see one on the internet anywhere except for what it looks like to me of all the Joke batteries on ebay etc that tend to be a waste of time and money as some people maybe know.

I have seen a place selling some that are allegedly made with Duracell but they are wanting about £65, I don't even know if those are real or fake though.

Anyway, I hope you get the main jist of my questions, here is the Laptop details if anyone can help me to get a very good cheap-ish either genuine or as close to genuine as possible replacement please >>>

Asus, X55C , INTEL i3 2328M 2.2GHZ, 320GB (mechanical drive), BATTERY PACK Li-lon A32-K55, RATING +10.8V 4400mAh 47Wh.

p.s, I have to admit I don't have a clue about Laptops as I just have never had one and don't like them, but that's another story.

Don't have the answer you are looking for, but in the meanwhile as you look at new notebooks you could try contacting asus rma about out of warrenty service maybe? (if OH is happy with laptop performance aside from battery)
Obviously you would have to pay something but as formentioned if they are otherwise content with the computer then £100 (or whatever it costs) to service the battery better than throwing 1k on a new one

Plus since you can still use it you could safely back up all their stuff before sending it off... so you could get another year or so use out of the thing then treat her to a whopper when the current tech has aged a bit

Thanks for the reply mate, I know exactly what your saying etc but really its just like my first question asks.

I was hoping that someone could maybe let me know a half decent place to buy a replacement battery for the laptop described and that's it, this one is going to go downhill quick now, I can tell.

Good thinking on Asus but I would image they charge a furtune for Laptop batteries, infact I am positive they would.

I see quite a lot on ebay etc but its like the usual buying any type of rechargeable batteries on ebay etc, sometimes you get lucky and sometimes not so lucky, all depends.

Some people seem to know the best cheap brands to buy and the worse ones too etc, but with laptops I do not have a clue.

So basically that's what I am trying to find out if anyone could help me please ?

18-24 months at roughly 3 hours per day is quite a wear on the battery, so yes it wouldn't surprise me if the battery life is now at a point where it does need a constant recharge. Think of the smartphone batteries these days. Assuming the laptop is fine itself, and also that you do require battery usage, your only option is to find the battery on Asus website, or an official reseller. DO NOT buy a generic replacement from ebay, as this may even cause damage to the laptop itself.

Hmm i've had a quick search through their store and they don't seem to do many batteries whatsoever. The support page for the X55C also seems pretty useless in terms of battery replacement.

I'd suggest launching a live chat from here: http://www.service.asus.com/#!b2c2/c24v6 and give them the laptop model number and get them to advise on how you'd go about getting a battery replacement. There is the possibility (as laptops change design etc) that ASUS may not even manufacture that particular model anymore.

ok thanks mate, done that and was directed to contact via email/asus support contact etc, so I went ahead and done that and I will see what they say, it might still be covered with warranty, I don't know, cant remember now, says on the asus website purchased summer time 2014 but I thought it was older than that, maybe I thought wrong, I don't know.

Anyways, I gave them all details etc and will let you guys know how I get on with the reply, if its a big no no when I get word back then I guess I will still be on the hunt for a replacement battery still.
