I have a very old pentium 233 laptop. It's just used for internet browsing (which it's perfect for!) but the battery life is appauling.
Online searches seem to suggest that the battery replacement would cost $200 odd, which considering the laptop is probably worth about 20 quid really isn't worth it.
But I looked at the battery and it was rated NiMH 10.8V 4000mAh. I opened it up and it had 9 individual cells which were a bit strange in that they were larger than standard AA, and had flatter ends.
I was wondering could I get away with just getting 9 or so standard rechargable NiMH AA's 800mAh, which would rate 10.8V and 7200mAh I guess (if my multiplation works and that's how you do it when batteries are in series) and put them together in the same fashion as the current 9 are hooked up.
Would this work ok and not damage anything or is it not as simple as this?
Cheers
