Laptop boot problem

My laptop recently broke, when starting up most of the time the screen stays off, and occasionly it loads to the vaio screen, but never past this point, its a sony vaio VGN-FS415E, and is one month out of warranty.
Is there anyway of resetting the bios, or getting it to boot?
If not, any idea what it costs to fix this? is it worth fixing?
