laptop boots in safe mode but no screen in normal

Having a look at a laptop first it would get to the post screen then the start windows in safe mode normal mode menu. If you click normal it boots makes all the normal noises even the log in noise, how ever the screen then goes black.

I can boot in safe mode and get the screen up and everything looks to be ok, close down go to normal mode same thing happens?

its Vista home premium sp2.

Anyone know a quick fix?

Uninstall the video card drivers in safe mode

Reboot

That's what I'd try first.. You don't have a screen connected do you? Try pressing the FN + Switch video button
