From the latest BSOD we has a .DMP file if that is useful at all

Hi,

Firstly give this a go.

http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html

This might make more sense of your dump if the problem is known.

If that doesn't make any sense, then try running memtest86+ to verify your memory is okay.

check that all your drivers are up to date, chipset, video etc etc.

Are you able to verify what make/manufacturer your HDD is?

edit - just noticed error code 1000007e

take a look at this : http://www.wiki-errors.com/wiki-errors.php?wiki=1000007e - look's like there's a repair tool. Take a backup first if you can.

or :

1. Click on Start, then RUN

2. Enter CHKDSK n into the field ( XP, Vista and Windows 7)

/r Locate bad sectors and recovers readable data – Implies /f and /p. Needs dedicated use of disk so may perform check next time PC is restarted

She has made an acocunt so it makes it a lot easyer but shes waitin for her account to be activated

Her Reply:

Hey,
I am the girlfriend with the bluescreen problem.

When I tried to find the make/manufacturer of my HDD (Hitachi HTS545032B9A300), I stumbled across the event log of the windows performance diagnostics tool.

When looking through these, I noticed an extremely frequent occurence of errors 500 and 501, especially since I started playing Diablo 3.
Since my game does go in slow motion frequently (very annoying), this is consistent with the errors the diagnostics tool found.

Event ID 501. Op code: "Video memory responsiveness"
Text: The Desktop Window Manager is experiencing heavy resource contention.
Reason : Graphics subsystem resources are over-utilized.
Diagnosis : A consistent degradation in frame rate for the Desktop Window Manager was observed over a period of time.

Event ID 500. Op Code: "Video memory degradation"
Message: The Desktop Window Manager is experiencing heavy resource contention.
Scenario: The Desktop Window Manager responsiveness has degraded.

Now, from what I understand, it seems that something with my graphics card/graphics card memory is experiencing trouble. The graphics card I use (ATI Mobility RAdeon HD 5470) has 512MB memory, which I thought would be sufficient, especially since the system requirements for Diablo 3 state this.

The driver I use for the graphics card is from 2010. I know it is nowhere near up to date, but it is the only one that I found working for me. I had two newer drivers installed (from the AMD website, AMD catalyst mobility display driver 12.3 and afterwards 12.4) for a few days each a week ago, but the first one caused a massive slow-down in boot up, and the second one gave me two bluescreens in the timeframe of two hours, which I never had before.
I therefore went back to my 2010 driver. I would happily install a new driver, especially since I suspect that the driver could be causing both the 500/501 error and the bluescreens, but so far I have not found one that did not cause me more problems than I already had.

I know the error states video memory but I would run the CHKDSK first.. with /r

Then grab the latest Hitcahi drive fitness tool
http://www.hgst.com/support/downloads/

This will run through and check your drive for faults. If found faulty, you have found the root of your problem.

I nothing found on the above, then at least you have eliminated the Hard drives..

Run memtest and so on..

Do you get the same problems in Safe mode?

Does she have to Burn the CD Image download to a disk to run the test?

She cannot play either of the games in safe mode so she doesnt know if the problem would occur. The CDSK was run and it got to 100% and the console closed
