My mate bought a laptop last week. He brought it round to mind to initially set it up and it connected to my router fine.

He took it home and it cannot see the router.

Problem is that said router is in a locked office and cannot be got to, as he lives in part of a house that is connected to a petrol station and uses their internet, so he cannot reset the router until Monday morning.

The thing is his iphone, his other pc, his other laptop, my phone and my laptop can all see the router and connect to it perfectly yet this new laptop cannot.

His new laptop will tether to my phone and his iphone perfectly too.

I'm pretty sure that when he can reset the router it will work.

But, in the mean time, does anyone have any other suggestions as to what this might be?

Is the router locked down MAC address wise? Is the SSID hidden?

Download netstumbler and see if you can see it with that.
