Hi all.

Last few weeks I've noticed an issue with my 1.5yo HP Omen (about 6mo out of warranty )

I noticed that it wasn't charging intermittently, thought it may of been a fuse issue, double checked and put fuse in (without changing) and wiggled bits about and it would then continue to work.

It happened once or so a week until tonight when I went to start and it's basically saying the power supply is low and it wont charge. However, when the laptop is off it is charging OK. I left it for an hour or so just and it charged without issue to 97% from 30 odd.

I've checked a few bits, the HP battery check and calibration seems OK and is discharging OK. I drained it a couple of weeks ago and charged it back up to full to calibrate it and it's lost a little bit of longevity but it's still discharging OK and lasting an hour+

Having seemingly eliminated the battery itself all i'm left with is the AC block being the issue, i've flashed to the latest BIOS and done a couple of HP Specific things with removing the windows driver for the battery to no avail.

Got an AC Block on order to try and rule that out, is there anything else I could look at to try and solve this. I am hoping given the symptoms prior to with the charger possibly playing up that it's just that.

Cheers

If the new psu doesn't help, most likely situation is that the solder between the mobo and the charging connection has broken. Or a loose cable internally.

If a wiggle fixes things as you mention, should be a easy fix.

I've had a bad experience on it. My kid dropped while its plugged. So small pin inside the charging part is damaged. It was charging well sometimes but sometimes doesn't. It took 1 month to solve it. Changed the cable, charger and plug but finally discovered it when I opened the chassis.
