Laptop charging in car?

Can i charge my laptop up in the car using the cigarette lighter socket?

Is there something i can buy to enable this?

You need a 12v inverter - what one depends on the wattage of your psu but over 150 watt should be fine

You don't necessarily need an inverter - why bother converting 12v DC to 240v AC then back to ~19v DC? Wasteful!

You can get specific in-car chargers for many makes/models of laptops - but they're likely to be sold by competitors, so will not be able to link... a Google search with your laptop make and "in car adapter" should yield some results.

trouble is, those laptop specific doodles cost more than an 150w inverter which ive seen for £19.99 and would suit any laptop due to the fact that the end is just a normal 3 pin plug
