Thinking of buying a laptop and cannot decide between these two. I know nothing about AMD so I am a little worried about the reliability/stability of AMD compared to Intel?

Any advice would be appreciated. The main use is for desktop publishing, photography & music editing etc. Thanks, Ian.

Having looked myself the performance between the two processors is similar so I wouldn't be overly concerned by that. Looking for a laptop myself and siding with AMD myself.

More importantly the AMD laptop has more RAM, a larger SSD and is cheaper so it's a no brained for me.

For your requirements you need to look at the quality of the screen as much as the overall performance. The 17-cp0501na's screen is only 250 nits and 45% NTSC and that, frankly, is not what I would consider good enough. The 300 nits and 72% NTSC of your second choice are not exactly stellar either but they're better and what you get in this price range. RAM and SSD are reasonably easy to upgrade on HP laptops so can be sorted out later.

Thank you Snapshot, very good point.
