Hi,

I am trying to choose the best laptop for gaming and i have these two choices.

#1

Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 2.0GHz,4MB,800MHz
New Nvidia GeForce 8700M GT 512MB (DX10)
WSXGA+ X-Glass 1900x1200
2GB DDR2 800MHz RAM (2 Module)
100GB 7200rpm S-ATA
Windows Vista Home Premium

for £1300

Or

#2

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7400 Processor (2.16GHz,667MHz,4MB L2 cache)
2048mb 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 [2x1024]
17" UltraSharp™ Wide Screen WUXGA (1920x1200)
120GB (5400rpm) SATA Hard Drive
512MB DDR3 nVidia® GeForce™ Go 7950 GTX graphics card

for £1400

now the first one is the new Santa Rose core and has a higher FSB. It also has the new NVidia DX10 card.

The second has a slightly higher CPU GHz and the 7950GTX which is currently the best mobile card.

So which one to get. Is the new 8700 fast than the 7950GTX (According to NVidia website it is about 10% faster.) and it supports DX10.

So what are your thoughts???

Thanks
J

Not too savvy about laptops but i guess the first one as you want it for gaming the graphics card will be quite important. If you're spending that much you want to be able to play next gen games.

Are you sure you want a gaming laptop and not a gaming PC? You'll get a lot more power for your money that way. Gaming laptops will never be as good as a desktop equivalent and its very difficult for you to upgrade. But its your choice :)

ring up the company who do the 7950 card laptop and ask them are they willing to cut the price down a little because their is a new laptop out with updated graphics card for cheaper, if they dont beleive you show them.

i managed to get a laptop down from £500 to £450 with a free bag thrown in because i said their is a cheaper laptop with next day delivery on the net, first they refused but then i said ok started walking out and then i got shouted to come back ^_^, high street stores you should always haggle if you are buying a pricey piece of equipment, you can do the same over the phone.
