Please can anyone give me any advice on these laptops

Have a look at the Dell Vostro - if it weren't for Dell not having a decent finance solution for me, I would have gone with their 1700 version with 8600M GT cards and all.

Much nicer pricing than a XPS imo.

What about Inspiron 1720 ?

I do like the look of the toshiba

Both pretty capable, Dell normally better for value for money, Toshiba normally better for quality of finish. I have a Toshiba and like it, it has crashed once, but that was Vista's fault.
