Hi all, I am looking at replacing my desktop PC with a laptop. I do not expect the same kind of performance for my budget but I have been looking at the MSI GT70 2QD Dominator (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=LT-178-MS&groupid=959&catid=1828)
It has a pretty good GPU, and overall spec seems OK. Although it does not have an SSD, it does have a blu-ray drive and a lot of storage on a standard HDD. I already have an SSD in my desktop that I could put into it (if that is possible without voiding warranty?).
My current desktop is a pretty high spec gaming rig (I7, R9 290, 16GB RAM etc) and it can play pretty much anything at 1080p on ultra.
I am not looking for that kind of performance in the laptop, but I would prefer it to be able to run games as high as possible for my budget.
£1200 is pretty much my budget limit (I would prefer something a bit cheaper if possible), and I was wondering if I need a GTX970 to achieve overall good performance on games? Is the 970 now the minimum standard? I have seen so many laptops with the GTX860M and I am wondering if the 970's extra performance is worth the extra price tag over the GTX860?
I am also unsure as to what screen size I should get. It will primarily be a gaming laptop and I have focused my searches on 17.3'' screens. Does screen size make a massive difference? Which is best for gaming? I'm currently gaming on a 24'' 120hz monitor + 40'' TV for console play.
I have also been on pretty much every custom laptop site going, and I have built a 970 derived 17'' laptop on one of those sites for about £1100 (inc express build).
TLDR:
Thanks

TLDR:
- Which screen size for gaming, 15.6 or 17.3?
- Is GTX 970m worth the extra price tag over a GTX860m? (IE is the extra performace noticable and worth the extra £200?)
- Which laptop is recommended for my budget? (bang for buck etc - MSI seem to keep popping up on the radar).
- Preferred spend is £800-£1000. Will spend more (up to £1200) but only if the real term benefits of the extra power are worth the price tag (for example if the extra asking price for a 970m is worth the performance boost it gives over an 860m in real every day use)
Thanks
