I have recently got a HP Pavillion laptop for general family use. I am starting a new job in Jan so don't have a business one yet.
Anyway, I need a com port so I can use a serial-USB convertor but there are none installed on the HP. Its running Windows MCE and I have managed to install COM4 but it says device cannot start in device manager and has no resources. I tried to manually allocate resources but no luck.
No other COM ports show up in device manager so I dont know where ports 1-3 are.
Anyone have any idea where I am going wrong?
