hello all

i,m thinking of getting alienware lappy and here is a list of cpu:

Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Q9000 (2.00GHz,1066MHz FSB,6MB L2 Cache - Included

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T9800 (2.93GHz,1066MHz FSB,6MB L2 Cache) - £165.22

Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Q9100 (2.26GHz,1066MHz FSB,12MB L2 Cache) - £443.48

here are the choices avilable, i included prices of what i have to pay to upgrade to the other 2 cpus.

mostly will be used for work and maybe cad but some gaming now and then.

what do you think of the one is included and if it worth shelling out on the other for long term.

thanks

thanks for the info

thats what i thought about the q9100.

so that just leaves me with t9800 or q9000. is it worth the £165.22

Depends if you're going to be doing more CAD than gaming. If you do more CAD, stick with the quad. If you plan on doing more gaming, the dual core will give you more power for that.

What graphics does the laptop have? If its nVidia, and PhysX/CUDA enabled, that'll help lots for the gaming, and mean you can get away with a slower CPU :)

cheers for that, naaa i dont think will be much cad i was told is apossibility by the lecturer.

the gpu is Single 1GB ATI® GDDR3 Mobility™ Radeon™ HD 4870

thanks
