I've been running Black Ops on my eMachines D730G (Core i3 350M & GeForce GT 330M) laptop now for over a week and even though the game runs fairly well, the laptop CPU and the laptop itself gets stupidly hot and the CPU keeps throttling as well when playing on the larger maps on MP.
While running RealTemp in the background and say in the middle of playing the Villa map, the CPU will start to throttle and I will have to come out of the game and when I checked out the CPU temps, to my shock horror they were at 95c! RealTemp reported as well that the thermal side of things were "HOT"
I've been monitoring the idle temps as well and the CPU still idle'd at a worryingly 60c
I decided to purchase an Akasa laptop cooler the other day and I've been able to run Black Ops now without any throttling & overheating problems and the highest the CPU temp has now been acording to RealTemp is 83c but on average it's at 75c. RealTemp reports that the thermal levels are always "OK" now. The idle is down to 45-50c now too.
Even though their is an improvement, it still worry's me that the CPU temps are still on the high-ish side, What do you guys think? On my old Acer Aspire 6935G (T6400 2Ghz & GeForce 9600M GS) the temps never rose above 60c when playing MW2 and always idle'd at 35c. Also do any of you guys have any suggestions to how I could bring the CPU temps down more?
Thanks all - Liam
