Hi all

While looking out for a new notebook I found a pretty good deal for an Acer 5920G laptop with blu ray/4g ram/8600m gt/250g hard disk. There are two variants however, one with a Core 2 Duo T5550(1.8ghz/667fsb) and one with a Core 2 Duo T7300 (2ghz/800fsb). The price difference stands at ₤185. Is the T7300 worth the extra ₤185?

Hi,

Put simply i would say no way. as you can buy a new t7300 cpu for £130 and then sell the t5550 so quite frankly £185 is a complete rip off.

**edit - echo what the above guy just said as we posted at the same time :) **

Cheers,
Hugest

are you sure that it just the cpu that is different a T7300 is around £130 retail and a T5500 is around £100

But is the CPU difference difference worth it ? Is the difference noticeable on benchmarks only or in real life too?

Thanks for the replies btw :)

the T7300 laptop could be santa rosa chipset, while the T5550 is an older chipset possibly. i'd check that out thats if your wanting to upgrade the cpu later on in your laptop perhaps or something.

Doubt it'd be the case that I'd want to upgrade my cpu :)
