Laptop Crashing

Hi all

My wifes friend says her laptop keeps getting really hot and crashing/freezing, Whats your thoughts on a solution?

Check that the fan is still working and that it isn't full of dust (blow it out with canned air).

Also check that there isn't something untoward running in the background.

Can I check the fan through a program to see if its running or does it need to be taken apart, also how can I check if somethings running in the background

You can usually hear laptop fans running, or feel the hot air blowing out.

Task Manager will show you what's running.
