Hello all!

I'm interested in buying a laptop, I've narrowed it down to three.

Acer 4810T/5810T

£550/600

Intel Core 2 Solo SU3500 1.4ghz
Intel 4500HD integrated gpu (furmark lowest settings avg 1fps)
3/4GB DDR3 RAM
250/500GB HDD
8 Hour battery life

HP something

£550

Intel T4200 Pentium Dual Core 2.16ghz
ATi 4530 512MB gpu (furmark lowest settings avg 30fps)
4GB RAM
250GB HDD

Dell 1737 Studio

£450

Intel T3400 Pentium Dual Core 2.16ghz
Intel 4500HD gpu
3GB RAM
250GB HDD

The Acer is very underpowered, well CPU at least and it's the same price as the HP but I adore the way it looks. It's incredibly thin and feels very well built and the HP is better specced but feels plasticy and prone to blemishes and general nastiness.

The Dell seems decent enough but doesn't really have any standout features and is £100 cheaper than the Acer and the HP.

Would it be possible to upgrade the CPU in the HP? I'm not a fan of this "Pentium Dual Core" lark.

Anyways, advice would be much appreciated, cheers guys!

Those solo Acers look nice, almost purchased one today. Mine will always be powered from the mains though!

Would have to be the 15" and with the the 500 gig drive.

Bought a well specced HP for £500 in the end. It has a lovely 17" screen, but its HDD is making a nasty noise, so it's going back.

Well there weren't many 17"s for 500 and this looked the best. Its P7450 2.1 chip and 320 HDD, some kind of nvida with 256 dedicated memory. Ticked the boxes for me I'm not a gamer, just wanted a large HDD and decent processor. It had HDMI too, which I thought might be cool in the lounge;)

It a G70, now sadly back in its box:mad:

The 1.4 did put me off a bit, it was very slick looking for a Acer.
