Hello,

Around a week ago I purchased a new Dell XPS 15, I have since reinstalled Windows 7 and the required Dell and Nvidia drivers. However I have been having an unusual battery problem, my entire system seems to instantly shutdown without warning between ten and thirty minutes of battery use. I can then power up and continue working after selecting how I want to start Windows.

I have tinkered around and even reset my battery options. Running on "Power Saver" and "Balanced" makes no difference, I haven't tried high performance.

I am 100% certain that this is a software problem, as when I first received the laptop I spent an hour or two (on battery) generally admiring and playing music through the device. The problem started overnight as I reinstalled Windows.

Any suggestions? They'd be appreciated. Every driver except the card reader driver for my specific Dell service has been installed in-order.

Thanks!

I must also add that I have two driver warnings, see below.

Solution below in next post for battery crash/shutdown/cutout.

Solution found. I updated the BIOS from A06 to A11 and disabled Enhanced Intel SpeedStep (EIST) around two hours ago and have yet to experience another crash. Updating original post with keywords to assist others who search through Google. SpeedStep was restricting the amount of power getting the to processor, which caused power-outages; much like when you unplug the battery of mains cable.
