Hey guys,

I have a Gateway ML3108b laptop. I went to turn it on this evening and it made the mechanical sounds as if it were operating as normal. However, there is no image displayed on the screen and I haven't been able to fix it.

I have tried replacing the battery, not using the mains and not using the battery. I've tried all the Fn key functions but none of them do anything.

Has my screen died or what else is causing this issue? Any help would be appreciated. :)

Only thing I've got left to try is plug it into my TV to see if it works with an external screen, but I don't have a cable available atm.

If the backlight dies you can still see the image on the screen in some manner - it's just a lot darker.

Plug it into another monitor of some sort, if it works it's one of the above. If not it's possibly your graphics card/motherboard.

It's probably worth, if it works with a monitor, opening it up and checking for loose connections. Laptops tend to take a bit of knocking about and it's not unheard of for a cable to wriggle its way loose.

Inverters are fairly cheap compared to a replacement if the laptop's fairly new and you're confident in replacing it yourself.
