Hello there,

I have an old vaio laptop with a cpu issue and was wondering if i can dissasemble it and put the components into a desktop case. Will the motherboard have slots for display and cpu connection and will I be able to remove all the components?

No laptop components are completely different. laptop cpus are soldered to the board(with exception of some very high end gaming laptops) and the Graphics are built on the board.

only generic removable parts are SSD/HDD and RAM (but this is SODIM ) so not compatible on any desktop motherboard

Depends on the make and model of the sony VAIO laptop. Some models, like the model I have VPC-EB there is a flathead screw which screws the laptop CPU in place.

Fast forward to 9minutes 24 seconds and you'll see it being removed.

You can't use the components other than the hard drive in a desktop PC.

You could potentially replace the CPU, but they might be hard to source.

In my experience CPU issues in laptops are usually due to the fan failing to getting bunged up with dirt. Open it up following a youtube vid, clean the dirt out and check the fan works - if it doesn't you can usually source a replacement on the internet.
