Hey, my Toshiba is coming on around 3-4 years old now, and his name is Toshi(Toe-she) and should be referred to as such! We've been through a lot together over the past few and now he has a serious problem...

I completely put my laptop back to day one, then removed all the Toshiba bloatware and I have nothing but drivers, antivirus and core windows components (and Google Chrome & CCleaner). The problem is that the performance literally died since about this time yesterday, he'd always have a little problem getting too hot, but it never affected anything, it just meant I had to let him sleep for a while from time to time.

In essence, he is getting stupidly hot and has very slow performance despite being a completely fresh format with no clutter, no programs running or anything just high CPU usage 24/7, what parts of him do I need to get fixed?

He can't die... :(

Take him apart and clear out any dust from the heatsink and fans.

If that doesn't work, then take off the heatsink(s) clean them off and apply new thermal paste.

If you don't want to take your friend apart you can squirt compressed air into his vents, which is easy for you and painless for him.

Wont be as effective but it would get the worst out.

His name is Toshi.....? :o

I'm having the same issue with my laptop overheating - it's around 4 years old. It's a HP, maybe I should name it Hewie? :D

Can't clean the fan out though, unless I take the whole laptop apart.. Also difficult to spray compressed air because of the tiny tiny vent holes. I might have to get one of those cooling pads or something :/
