I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro P300-1EX, I am absolutly sick of it, It was just about bearable in the colder times, but I just simply cannot hack it in the summer months, it runs so hot, and the CPU is not even loading, this is sat at around 3-6% load.

Heat is pouring out of the side burning my fingers. I regulaly stick a vacume cleaner under all vents to suck out dust, I have tried opening it up but gave up a few times as they make it so hard to get in to these things im just going to end up snapping and breaking panels as its not an easy laptop to get in to.

I am yet to try compressed air but I would rather get the dust out than blow it around inside.

Anyone got any other ideas? My power supply for this is stupidly hot aswel

Pretty much all laptops made now will run hot, that's what happens when fast running components are packed so closly together.

You should get a laptop cushion/cooling pad or place it on a hard surfice like a piece of wood. Don't use it on your lap while slouched on the couch or duvet as this will insulate the heat and it won't be able to cool so easily.

As the two above me said, a laptop cooling pad would help your case massively and they're definitely worth an investment.

Alternatively, make your own out of a scrap wood or acrylic sheet, a battery terminal, some glue and a couple of desktop fans :)

where are the intakes and what do you have it on
i know a few people that have complained about there laptop running really hot and they have had it on there knees blocking the CPU intake underneath.
i have mine on a zalman laptop cooler and its running at about 40c and mines overclocked to 3458mhz

Same thing with my Netbook, I can't understand it. I thought these Atoms were not supposed to such that much juice and thus not generate much heat. Although I suppose it's the rubbish old chipset too. Bad times.
