Laptop fixing: LCD or MoBo

I started fixing up my old Laptop (Dell N5110), after replacing most case parts, LCD cable,
hinges and cleaning down rock solid thermal compound I ended being unable to get the monitor
to work (laptop works on an external monitor).

I did stop using the laptop because of the issue with monitor, but was sort of hoping that the
problem was in the cable at the back of the monitor, which did seem like it has fried a bit
from inside (some dark circular stains on it).

I am now unsure of what to buy next: a new motherboard or a new LCD?

VGA connector is separated from the main motherboard and is on another chip.
Laptop monitor connector might have been short circuited by myself, that's why I think
the problem might be in the motherboard.

LCD display is showing some life. LED backlight is working and if I am moving the
cables a bit I do see some colour pixels lighting up (few stripes).

Any advice people?)

prob MB, I wouldn't bother tbh.

you can pickup brand new laptop or even refurb for so cheap these days that fixing MB on an old one is just not worth it unless you enjoy it and get the parts for free or next to nothing.

I'd just sell it for spares.

I remember trying to fix a DVD drive for a friend's Dell Inspiron laptop, so ordered replacement and while waiting for part to be delivered the LCD went.

New MB would be around £100. If I was able to sell parts it might be worth it, but I am not sure how would that go.. New N5110 is £300+.

Gpu needs replacing.

You will get it working for a few months if you reflow or reball but it needs replacing ideally.

If you're anywhere near Cardiff I can do it for you, usually.the chips at fault are Radon 4250s
