Laptop for £400/500?

really £400 but 500 if its something special...must be able to take long periods of being on and under load sometimes.

want it to watch movies on, msn, email, other entertainment and the occasional game.
something like 2gb ram or abov and cpu of 1.8 +, oh pref graphics of 512mb+ of something decent and a screen thats no bigger than 15.4" plz :|

ive been told about the brand toshiba cuz my friend put it in his bag while it was on, got to uni and it was cool and working fine.

if u think toshiba is worth it put a model number after it so i can look it up

You wont find a laptop that will play any games for that money, unless you are playing very low end games or very old games.
I have just bought a Dell Inspiron for my mum & dad. It cost £429 with the higher res screen, which is worth the extra.
Spec:
2 gig core2
2 gig ram
250 gig hdd

The build quality is very good, much better than something like a Tosh or HP for the same money.

Played CSS, Spore, Portal, WoW and more on my old laptop (currently looking for a new one) was only about £400 when I bought it 18 months ago, can get much higher spec for the same price now.

Well it depends on what kind of game you want to play. I think you may struggle to play cod4 on a £400 laptop.

I've been looking at somethin along the lines of:

...which I've seen for around £560 on other sites. Has a nice bit of ram, nice processor an decent G card, for the price. So maybe after xmas it might drop a little. But thats just slightly out of my own price range, I'm looking for more >£500 myself.
