laptop/pc for £400

hi all.

merry xmas to everyone.

I am looking for a new laptop for around the £400 mark.

I browse the net mostly, but i also sometimes edit a bit of video from off my phone, or do a bit of basic image editing. Use MS office programs.

I don't need a portable laptop, and don't have space for a desktop, so ideally looking at a larger screen size if possible.

I play the odd basic game or some browser games. No heavy 3d games as have the console for that.

Any recommendations? Whats the best buy at the moment?

Alternatively, what about a computer I can plug into my TV? i don't know what my options are really. With a wireless mouse and keyboard that could work.

Thanks

There are some really good console killers on overclockers around the £400 benchmark , as you said, you play the odd basic game, so a computer around £400 wouldn't have no problem running those (unless you want to play on 4k at 999fps lol).

I'd recommend going to the computer section as there aren't any £400 laptops on overclockers on the section I'm looking at/that I'm aware of (I might be 100% wrong). You could plug your PC into your Tv as long as it has a VGA plug.

You can get compact gaming PCs too, if I were you id have a look around as you might not want to rush into things, I'm not allowed to link any other websites but there are some good ones if you just look around (I always recommend overclockers though).

Good luck buddy, Merry Christmas.

Can you point me to something on overclockers that would be along the lines you are thinking? I'm not sure what you mean by 'console killers'.

I really can't decide what is best way to go. The advantage at the moment with the old laptop I have is it can go next to me on the sofa and I can still watch tv in the background. If I have a pc attached to the tv then I wouldn't be able to do this.

However the laptop is pretty bad when the kids want to use it for homework, because of the touchpad mostly, but also small screen. I don't really need it to be portable as such, and the battery on my current laptop died years ago so now I just have it plugged in all the time.

There is more choice in 15.6" laptops than 17", but 15.6" is still quite small. Ideally I'd like full HD resolution.

Can a pc connected to a TV stream films onto the tv, like you can with an Amazon firestick? I was thinking of getting one but maybe a pc could do it better?

A pc with wireless keyboard and mouse seems a better option than a laptop. The only downside being I can't use it simultaneously with the tv.7

What about a good tablet with a separate keyboard and mouse? Possible?

I have a xbox360, a 1TB external HDD, and a V+ box at the moment. If I was to buy a gaming pc box for the TV, what interrconnectivity options would I have with the existing kit?

You can stream np with a pc to tv. I think for a 17'' fullhd laptop within £400 is a tall order, but you might get lucky on the used market.
