Laptop for £500

Hey,

My mate is after a laptop for no more than £500.

- He's doesn't intend to game on it.
- He already has a biggish external HDD so can sacrifice on that for more RAM/better CPU.
- Battery life isn't important
- If you think £500 is too much for just general activities then suitable suggestions for cheaper models is appreciated.

Wouldn't be hard to find a i3 2Ghz, 3/4Gb ram, 250Gb+ laptop for £400-£450.

I was thinking of a spec along those lines but specific models would be much appreciated I'm pretty clueless about laptops. Not sure about the build quality of certain brands and what not.
