Hola!

Sorry to do this, but I have not kept up with the laptop market for a while so I am confused by the current gen of processors etc.

Basically I had a Dell XPS M1530 which I bought in June 2008, now my flat got burgled last week and the insurance company have agreed to send me a voucher to the value of £730 to replace it.

Now I am limited to using the Purple people group for the replacement, so my question is this.

What are the best processors / mobile GPUs to look for in that price range, and does anyone have any specific reccomendations which they may have bought recently?

Thanks very much chaps and chapesses!

PS not totally against spending a bit of my own cash to increase the purchasing power, would like to limit it to around £100 though.

One suggestion: The Sony SONY Vaio VPCEB1ZOE/B at around £799 with an i5 processor and ATI 5470 GPU, nice full HD screen and Bluray.

I agree with KingZeddy - the SONY Vaio VPCEB1ZOE/B is a fantastic laptop for the price, especially where you have to get it from the purple people place.

The 1080 FullHD screen is fantastic, with Blu-rays looking gorgeous on it. You also get 4Gb ram and a 500Gb hard drive too.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, ended up going for the Vaio after about an hour of circling the laptops on display and examining most of them!

Got it last friday night, had broken it by 8.45pm (not my fault though, windows update hung the PC and it tried to repair itself and got stuck into a loop on the windows repair bit, couldnt even use a Windows 7 CD to reinstall!!)

So had it replaced and it seems like a nice laptop, although the glossy finish means it has fingermarks everywhere!

Again thanks for the help :)
