Hi there,

I'm planning a backpacking trip for 6-8 months. I'm taking my phone, a camera and a GoPro.

Now I need a laptop/netbook/chromebook to take.

Basically it needs to be lightweight, no more than 13.3 inch screen, and powerful enough to do basic tasks, like watch youtube, download photo's and video's, upload them, basic web browsing, updating a blog online.

Are there any like that? I don't want to spend more than £250-£300.

Acer ES1-311:

N2840 2.16Ghz
4GB DDR3
1TB HDD
13.3 Inch LED 720p

For £190

That seems great value, anyone have any input on this particular model or any others please?

Yeah it seems like a good deal for what it is and it has decent reviews.

I'm only going to do basic tasks so it doesn't need a lot of horsepower.

I know SSD's are great and all but I need storage space and that 1TB seems sweet

I will take a look at that model!

Do you think a 15.6 inch laptop would be too big to carry around when travelling? I've never owned a laptop before

Could you give me a clue or trust me where you found the 4gb version for this price?

In regards to a 15 inch, yes I'd say this is too big. If I was backpacking I'd be tempted to look for an 11inch such as the Acer Aspire ES1.
