Spec me a decent laptop between £800-£1200 needs to be able to run adobe lightroom ,luminar neo ,adobe elements premiere ,topaz etc ,and some kind of video editor ,also need ports to transfer images to and from portable drives ,sd card slots or usb ports for a card reader as i doubt i will ever see a laptop accept cf express type a ,needs a fairly decent size screen 14-15-16 inch ,looking at asus duo at the moment but will get a better specced laptop if i choose a standard type ie one screen . The apple route looks nice also but not sure if my adobe subscription allows apple usage .
 
Lenovo Legion 5 (Not the pro) with the QHD screen is great value. My colleague just picked one up direct for £940 with 12700h, 16gb, 3070 1tb unfortunately it looks like all the deals are gone and they are at £1500+ now :(

@Minstadave On the Yoga Slim, do you know what Lenovo means by a Glare screen? Does it just mean it's shiny? And do you know if it will take a second SSD? (Will try to download the maintenance manual later to find out for myself.)
 
I have just looked at this in currys

Asus ZenBook Duo 14 UX482E​

for £1100 love the second screen which sort of doubles up to make your screen bigger and could be useful for adobe software editing to help make your screen larger ,although reviews seem mixed they talk of cramped key board touch pad placement .
 
Looking at these 2 laptops what are the differences in use between ryzen and intel ,both same price ,looked at the laptop nice build and design no oled sceen but plenty of detail on another point can you connect a ssd extreme portable drive via the thunderbolt 4 connectors or does this need usb ?

Ok correct me if am wrong the intel cpu has better performance but uses more power to achieve it ,The dedicated graphics card rtx 3050 out performs the iris xe by quite a margin but again will likley use more power ,32gb v 16gb will make for a better perfomance when performing editing creation tasks mostly adobe stuff does it equal out the lesser performing cpu in tasks ,well 1tb ssd is obviously better than 512gb.

Doesn't matter which one you get, they all do the same job. I personally though would stay away from ones you can't repair yourself.

They all do the same job ? like tvs i guess ,but i would rather get one i can use or watch for the next 10 years with all singing dancing features ,than watching a screen that has poor colour and sound reproduction , having to sit 10 inchs from to watch it in low definition and to hear the thing

10 years? not going to happen. At the most between 5-7 years. Depends how it's looked after as well.
 
If you need battery life for travel nothing beats a M1 Macbook.

If I need a Windows one you'd have to consider how much you need a gaming gfx because it compromise the portability of the laptop considerably.

I've a gaming laptop Lenovo 5 Pro, and I've been considering something much lighter for when I'm on the move.

I've a gaming laptop Lenovo 5 Pro, and I've been considering something much lighter for when I'm on the move.Yes mine will be used for travel and feel that 14 inch is a good size to weight ratio ,it will go in my lowepro back pack ,i also have a ipad pro 12 inch for when i am just watching films and browsing ,it is just no good at editing large files and lots of them as well as video ,not that it is not capable but the hassle of getting images from my cf express type a cards to the lpad then on to a external harddrive are kind of awkward at best a laptop is just much better.
