Hey all I'm wanting to know which laptop would be best for gaming at around £1500. I mainly play stratrgy games so it must play them at a high setting and I'm wanting to play a few MMOs and the odd game on battlefield also. Also I'm wanting a 17" screen. Doesn't matter how big or heavy it is. Cheers.

Asus G751JY-T7117H. 17" 1080p IPS screen, Intel i7, nVidia 980M 16GB of DDR3, comes with 128GB SSD and 1TB HDD. Good reviews all around and can be found for just under £1500. Have a look around, I am sure OCUK could price-match too.

I have read the reviews on the asus and it does seem to me like it's the best all rounder. I've not read anything on gigabyte laptops is there anything people dislike in them? Seems like a great buy with £350 off though! I personally prefer the look of the MSI but I read they get a bit too hot? What about the stealth pro? Is it worth that much money when I can get a 980M for the same price?

The main difference between the ASUS as the gigabyte one is the Asus has a 4gb 980M and the gigabyte has 8gb 980M.
While the MSI ones do fit better with the budget but I'd say that 8gb 980M is the top selling point.
To buy a similar spec laptop on a custom laptop site (slightly weaker CPU and only a 750gb 7,200RPM hard drive) it would cost £1,592.00.

If you see the Aorus thread you'll see how good the gigabyte support is (Aorus is owned and made by gigabyte).

The Asus is also cheaper if you look around by around £150. It can be argued that the cooling on the Asus is superior and it is less noisy although some will prefer the sleeker metal construction of the Gigabyte.

The Asus has Blu-Ray, the Gigabyte only DVD RW. The processor is slightly better on the Gigabyte, and it has 2 128GB SSDs on raid so the superior price seems to be justified.

On another hand Gigabyte's customer support seems to be superb going by the other thread.

I am a very happy owner of an Aorus X7 Pro and can certainly vouch for the quality of the aftersales support from Overclockers and Gigabyte/Aorus.

Keep an eye out for a price drop on the X7 Pro V3 now that the new model has been announced :)
