Hi,

Just been looking for a new laptop today. I would like it for image editing and also some gaming and running my vm ware machines on for mobile revision.

I have come across the following machine on ocuks site which i though looked a rather good spec for the money.

Its the acer 7735g and can be seen here - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=LT-135-AC&groupid=959&catid=1201&subcat=

Specs are as follows for people not clicking the line -

- Weight: 3.25kg
- Warranty: 1 Year

The laptop costs £569.99 inc VAT , is the best i can do for the cash or are there better models.

Please no links to competitors but listing the make and model of the machine should be find i think as well as spec?

I look forward to the replies.

Thanks

Ant

That's as good as you're going to get new, but have a look around for refurbished models, they tend to come with about a year's warranty and be better specc'd (I have seen a laptop with a T9300 for ~£550, I just can't remember where)

Have also now seen what looks to be a rather nice toshiba - Toshiba A500-17X

Intel Centrino 2 processor P7450
(2.13Ghz, 1066Mhz, 3MB Cache)
Genuine Windows (R) 7 Home Premium
4GB Memory
500GB Hard drive
Nvidia GeForce GT 230M 1gig
Full HD 16” Display

This retails for £699 from what i can see.

I guess the problem with looking at this tosh is that its the same price as a base spec xps 16 which also look rather good!

What are peoples thoughts on these 3 models then and which would they go for? Are there any others im missing?

I have my reservations about Dell and the quality of their products and I'd go with the Toshiba (depending on the warranty, look for a 3 year extended one if possible)

Have a look at the Toshiba P300 as well, see if you can find it for a similar price

just the thread i was looking for. i like the look of the tosh. is it good for gaming to? playing codmw2 etc and fm2010. done crysis so won't be that but probably games like command and conquer.
