Laptop for music production

My son is into music production - doing a BTEC in it at the moment and looking to move onto University to study something around SFTVG (Sound for Films, TV and Games ... was a new acronym to me but seems to be "common parlance" on these courses) .... may even end up in OcUK-land as Staffordshire Uni is currently in second position in the places he's looked at. He uses Ableton currently and is wanting ProTools for Christmas and is currently looking to get a new laptop for for all this He has a budget of around £1k (mostly funded by sale of expensive DJ deck that is now surplus to requirements after the "become an internationally famous DJ" career path has been dropped!).

Any suggestions of laptops to look at for this ... emphasis is on support for music production as for gaming he's moved to Xbox.
